Verdala Palace, Buskett

 Verdala Palace, Buskett

Verdala Palace is a palace located in Buskett Gardens in Siggiewi, Malta. Built in 1568, the palace was designed by Girolamo Cassar, who designed several buildings in Valletta. The palace is surrounded by a quarried ditch. Its interiors are adorned with ornate decorations and frescoes. The palace currently serves as the summer residence of the President of Malta.

We were honoured to have been commissioned to restore the chandelier found at the entrance of the building. The chandelier was very fatigued, and the pull of gravity had distorted its shape. We have dismantled the entire chandelier and restored it back to its original design by repinning every single cleaned crystal piece by hand. Missing crystal pieces were also replaced.

The original golden bowl was severely damaged, and its pieces glued together with tape and silicon in an amateur manner. Mr James Licari has kindly given the original a full restoration, in order to retain all the chandelier’s original pieces.
